Sandra Macias

Executive Assistant

Sandra supports Hispanic Access Foundation’s executive office, keeping the organization running smoothly.

An immigrant from Chihuahua, Mexico, Sandra moved to Colorado with her parents at the age of six. Becoming a Colorado native while never forgetting her Mexican roots, she has built a home with her husband and two young daughters. Her professional background includes more than a decade of language translation and interpretation experience, as well as experience in community outreach through working for the public school district, serving at her local church, and collaborating with several non-profit Latino/Hispanic organizations.

Why she works for Hispanic Access…

“I decided to work for Hispanic Access when, during my interview, I learned about the organization’s mission, vision, core values, and history. I became invested in the organization when I discovered the core values are trust, commitment to equity, community, nimbleness and service; these really epitomize the driving forces behind Hispanic Access.”

In her spare time…

“I cherish quality time with my husband and daughters. We like to go to the parks around town, enjoy a good dinner together, try something new outdoors. We also enjoy being home and watching a movie, especially on a snowy day.”

Her favorite book…

“My favorite book is A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. I say it's my favorite book because it's the only book I stayed up reading all night until I’d finished. I think I started reading it at 8 PM and stopped at 4 AM.”

A person she finds inspirational…

“I consider Nick Vujicic an inspirational person. He has refused to let physical limitations dictate his life. He mentions in his books and videos that at 10 years old he decided that, instead of looking at everything he lacked, he would look at everything he could have. He has inspired many to live a life without limits.”
