Chela Garcia

Director, Conservation Programs

Garcia received her master’s degree in environmental studies and bachelor’s degree in international affairs and ethnic studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She is passionately committed to uplifting Latino communities and voices to ensure they have access to opportunities, services, and decision-making at the local, state, and federal level that affect their families and communities. When she is not outside on a trail with her dog, climbing up the side of a cliff, or spending time with family, Chela enjoys her role as a Colorado outing leader for Brown Girls Climb and Latino Outdoors, in which she helps coordinate opportunities for women of color and Latinos to engage with nature and recreate outside.

Prior to joining Hispanic Access Foundation, Chela successfully coordinated the primary campaign to elect Serena Gonzales-Gutierrez to the Colorado state legislature.
