Making Sure Latinos Count in the 2020 Census

Category: News Releases

At the core of what it means to be comunidad is to help address community needs today and to build our capacity to respond to those needs and challenges into the future, which is why Hispanic Access Foundation is excited to be partnering with the U.S. Census Bureau to promote participation and ensure that all Latinos count in the 2020 Census.

Every 10 years, the federal government counts every person living in the United States and five U.S. territories. Census results are the basis for congressional representation and help determine how more than $675 billion in federal funds are distributed each year to meet critical community needs at the state and local levels. These funds shape job creation, housing, nutrition assistance, emergency-preparedness and investments in education, transportation, employment, hospitals and clinics. The census is our opportunity to shape the future for the next 10 years. It is why it’s important to respond now without having to visit with a census taker.

To ensure community representation in Congress, better planning for emergencies and addressing community needs in equitable ways, please fill out the census today and encourage others in your community to fill out their 2020 Census form too.

Responding to the 2020 Census is safe, easy, and important. It takes approximately 10 minutes to respond to 9 questions, and you can respond online, over the phone, or by mail. Learn more by going to 2020Census.gov.
