Conservation Webinar Focuses on Water and How the World Has (and Hasn’t) Changed

Category: News Releases

Hispanic Access Foundation is launching its new webinar series “Staying Connected to Conservation” on May 15. In the first webinar, “Water and How the World Has (and Hasn’t) Changed,” HAF and its featured guests will discuss the importance of staying engaged during this time — and how to do so from home; how COVID-19 has and hasn't changed the natural world; and improving resilience with green infrastructure.

Joaquin Murrieta with the Watershed Management Group will share how New Hope Methodist Church in Tucson, Ariz. converted its facility to conserve and harvest water to preserve the watershed, which is experiencing hotter conditions, higher water demand, and dwindling water supplies. The renovations that include installing channels to guide water away from the church, planting trees for shade and adding a rain garden have helped to mitigate flooding on the property, reduce heat island effects and provided much needed green space in the arid climate. To attend this event please register here. This event will be presented in English. Spanish interpretation will be available.

The webinar will be Friday, May 15 at 3 pm EST. To register, please visit https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_XXvgfWN0S_S5DtC8jUF_LQ
