We work in Spanish-speaking communities across the country, which are often disenfranchised and wary of anyone they don’t know well.
In many of these communities the most trusted leaders are from the faith-based community – the Catholic priests and Evangelical pastors. We work closely with these faith-based communities to design and implement our programs, thereby ensuring their cultural relevance and efficacy.
Many of our grassroots events are held in local churches, and we work closely with pastors to recruit participants, identify community members to participate in our field team, and help facilitate workshops and events.
We also create new employment opportunities. In the last year, our field team included 35 people from 10 different communities across the country.
We’ve developed a niche for grassroots outreach, and our effectiveness for not only reaching the Hispanic community but also creating action has set us apart from other national organizations.
