Latino Conservation Week

July 16 - July 24, 2016

Latino Conservation Week: Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra is an initiative of Hispanic Access Foundation. HAF created and is leading the 3rd Annual Latino Conservation Week to support the Latino community getting into the outdoors and participating in activities to protect our natural resources. During this week, Latino community and faith-based organizations, particularly in the Southwestern United States, will go on hiking or camping outings, learn about conservation efforts in their community, and show their support for permanently protecting our land, water, and air.

In addition to the activities outlined in this toolkit, during this week local organizations and HAF will bring awareness to the Latino community’s support for conservation through a media and communications campaign. HAF will partner with local community and faith-based leaders to organize activities and publicize them on social media, and local television, newspaper, and radio outlets.

By participating in Latino Conservation Week: Disfrutando y Conservando Nuestra Tierra 2016, your church or community organization will be joining Latinos in several states to support the protection of our natural resources. HAF will work with you to plan fun and impactful activities for your community that will be highlighted in your local community and as part of this multi-state effort.

GOALS OF THE “LATINO CONSERVATION WEEK”:

  • PROVIDE LATINO FAMILIES AND YOUTH WITH OUTDOOR RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES NEAR THEIR HOMES.

  • PARTNER WITH HISPANIC COMMUNITY LEADERS AND ORGANIZATIONS TO SUPPORT LOCAL AND NATIONAL CONSERVATION ISSUES.
