HAF Launches Ocean Alumni Advisory Council

Written by: Super User

This year, the Conservation team at HAF is focusing a portion of our work on ocean education, conversation, and advocacy. To support these efforts, the Ocean Alumni Advisory Council was created. Drawing from our network of MANO Project alumni, we pulled together a cohort of five alumni from across the country with backgrounds in ocean science and conservation to advise our Ocean work for the year. The Council has advised us on oceans research, policy, and community engagement around oceans.

Currently, the Council is working on direct engagement with congressional offices to discuss the importance of protecting our ocean and on events to engage their respective communities in ocean conservation education. Our Council includes David Riera, Virginia Ansaldi, Ashley Suarez-Burgos, Andrianna Dowell, and Araceli Morales Santos and is spread out across Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.

Keep an eye out in the coming months for a podcast series featuring the Council’s ocean stories and other fun projects they’ll be working on!
