Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week 2023
Tuesday, October 10, 2023 | - EDT
In October 2021, Hispanic Access Foundation debuted Our Heritage, Our Planet/Nuestra Herencia, Nuestro Planeta Film Week, to uplift the nexus between Latino, Black, Indigenous and other communities of color and environmental topics through the storytelling medium of film. Over the last 2 years, we’ve had over 1,600 films submitted, 80 films chosen to be showcased, 10 award winning film selections, and nearly 1,000 registrants. The event also included performances and discussions with filmmakers, decision-makers, and community members on a variety of conservation topics.
For the 3rd year in a row, Our Heritage, Our Planet Film Week is building a space where creatives, filmmakers, climate justice advocates, and others working on environmental topics can come, showcase, and celebrate, the stories of Latino, Black, Indigenous and other people of color in connection to Our Heritage and Our Planet - the lands, nature, waterways, and oceans we all call home. This year, Our Heritage, Our Planet FilmWeek will take place October 10-15, 2023, closing out Hispanic Heritage Month, following Indigenous People’s Day. The themes of the FilmWeek are Lands & Nature, Climate Crisis, Environmental Justice, and Ocean & Waterways.
