Hispanic Access Welcomes New Climate Manager

Category: News Releases

Hispanic Access is delighted to announce the addition of Hilda Berganza as the Climate Manager. Berganza is a climate expert, leader, and champion specializing in climate restoration. She joins Hispanic Access from Girl Up, United Nations Foundation, where she created and implemented the organization’s digital open-source climate restoration course and set the stage for additional climate programming. Before that, Hilda spent two years as the Youth Program Director and Project Manager at the Foundation for Climate Restoration.

“I come from a Guatemalan family,” said Berganza. “I have seen firsthand the struggles of Latinos in the U.S. Mental health, spirituality, climate change, and financial education are all core conversations in Latino households that sometimes do not get addressed. To join an organization such as Hispanic Access that addresses these topics and builds bridges to provide a voice and a safe space for Latinos to connect is extremely inspirational. I am delighted to have found this organization."

She will be part of Hispanic Access’ conservation program and will play a pivotal role in overseeing and coordinating all aspects of our conservation efforts related to climate change, clean air, and climate justice.

“Hilda’s vast expertise in climate restoration will be essential to our conservation program,” said Maite Arce, president and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “With her help, we will be able to empower Latino frontline communities with the tools, education, and resources they need on their climate advocacy journey.”

Hilda will develop and refine the organization's climate strategy and long-term goals, engage in advocacy efforts to promote policies and regulations that protect communities and reduce climate pollutants, and cultivate relationships with government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and other stakeholders to foster collaborative efforts in climate justice.
