“The current government shutdown is creating uncertainty and challenges for families, workers, and communities nationwide. For many Latino households, even short delays in government services—whether in small business support, education, health, or family assistance—can create serious setbacks. Federal employees, many of whom are Latino, are also facing missed paychecks and work disruptions, placing additional strain on households.
“Our shared resources and spaces are also affected. From national parks and beaches to public lands and cultural sites, families may encounter closed or limited services, while small businesses and local economies that rely on tourism and recreation may feel the economic impact.
“These disruptions highlight how much our communities depend on an efficient and accessible government to build opportunity, foster access, and strengthen the ties that connect us. At Hispanic Access Foundation, we know that Latinos have always been central to a thriving America. This moment is a reminder of why our mission—to cultivate Latino leaders, strengthening communities to advance America’s future is more vital than ever before
“We urge Congress and the Administration to act quickly to restore essential services and ensure all communities have the support they need to endure this moment and thrive long-term. In times of uncertainty, we must come together, invest in our future, and build a better America for all.”
