Hispanic Access Foundation’s Juan Rosas Appointed to California 30x30 Partnership Coordinating Committee

Category: News Releases

Hispanic Access Foundation is honored to announce that Juan Rosas, Public Lands Manager at Hispanic Access Foundation, has been appointed to the 30x30 Partnership Coordinating Committee (PCC) by the California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA). The appointment recognizes Rosas’ leadership in public lands and reflects both his deep commitment to his local California community and Hispanic Access Foundation’s mission to cultivate Latino leaders, elevate community expertise, and connect Latino communities to the decision-making spaces that shape conservation and climate outcomes.

Launched by CNRA, the 30x30 initiative aims to conserve 30 percent of California’s lands and coastal waters by 2030. The statewide effort focuses on safeguarding biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, and ensuring equitable access to nature. For Latino communities, who are among the fastest-growing populations in California, the 30x30 initiative represents a critical opportunity not only to expand access to outdoor spaces, but also to ensure community knowledge, lived experience, and cultural relationships with land and water inform public policy and stewardship strategies—particularly at the local and regional level.

“Latino representation in land conservation decision-making is critical for the future of our nation," said Maite Arce, President and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “We believe that lasting environmental solutions require inclusive leadership grounded in community. Juan’s appointment reflects his longstanding work in California communities and ensures Latino perspectives are not only present, but valued in shaping California’s 30x30 policies and implementation."

The 30x30 Partnership Coordinating Committee plays a vital role in supporting the initiative by helping CNRA coordinate with hundreds of organizations across California.  Committee members serve as connectors across networks, share information about 30x30 with local and regional partners, elevate opportunities for implementation, and recommend workshops, working groups, and forums that address barriers while advancing community-driven solutions.

"It is a great honor to represent the voices and concerns of Latino communities across California," said Juan Rosas. "Latinos have a deep connection to nature and public lands, as these spaces are central to our culture, traditions, and community well-being. I look forward to ensuring that our communities are fully included in the conversation as we work to protect lands and waters for current and future generations."

Hispanic Access Foundation works to shift narratives, build leadership pathways, and advance policies that reflect the strengths and priorities of Latino communities at both the local and statewide levels. Rosas’ service on the Partnership Coordinating Committee represents the organization’s mission in action—bridging community-rooted leadership with institutional decision-making to drive more just, resilient, and effective conservation outcomes.
