Amaru Marchant

Amaru Marchant is a fourth-year undergraduate student at San Diego State University pursuing a B.S. in Environmental Sciences, with minors in Interdisciplinary Studies and French. After earning her undergraduate degree, she hopes to work in conservation or engage in environmental justice efforts. She gained her first experience in fieldwork research last summer studying the endangered moor macaques endemic to South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This reaffirmed her passion for fieldwork and protecting wildlife and the environment. This summer she will be serving as a Fellow with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service where she hopes to learn more about government conservation efforts and the culture at the service. Apart from school and research, she works as a sailing instructor in Mission Bay, or you can find her enjoying San Diego’s many beaches and cafes.
