Hispanic Access Foundation is honored to announce its partnership with Parks California for the Career Pathways program. Together, with the East Bay Regional Park District, they will create pathways for young Latinos to pursue careers in public lands by placing three talented young Latino professionals in substantive, paid six-month internships with the East Bay Regional Park District in 2025.

Hispanic Access’ Fourth Annual Latino Advocacy Week Kicks Off May 20
Hispanic Access Foundation’s fourth annual Latino Advocacy Week begins on May 20 and runs through May 24, 2024. Latino Advocacy Week was launched in 2021 to help build the capacity and familiarity among Latinos to advocate for themselves, their families, and their communities. This year, for the first time ever, Hispanic Access will partner with the U.S. Department of Commerce Office of Faith-Based & Neighborhood Partnerships to host an in-person National Latino Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C.
Ocean Conservation Lessons from the Gullah Geechee People
African-Americans and Latinos are groups that honor our ancestors, whose origin, roots, and history are strong components of our identity today, and we both are groups that have been minoritized while having a strong presence in coastal regions. Today, 60% of residents in coastal areas of the U.S. identify as Indigenous or people of color. Half of U.S. Latinos live in coastal areas already facing climate change impacts such as increased flooding and more intense hurricanes, which are only exacerbated by the destruction of natural ecosystems such as mangroves and wetlands in the name of "development.”
Hispanic Access Community Navigator Cohort Participants Awarded Community Wildfire Defense Grants
Hispanic Access Foundation is excited to announce two of our Community Navigator Cultivando: Side by Side cohort participants have been awarded a Community Wildfire Defense Grant (CWDG) for round two in the amount of around $250,000 each. Instituto de Avance Integral Latino and Protectores de Cuencas Inc. will use this award to advance their work in wildfire prevention planning.
