Hispanic Access Foundation tiene el honor de aliarse con Institutos Nacionales de Salud (National Institutes of Health) a través del Premio de Asociación en Educación Científica (Science Education Partnership Award) para lanzar el proyecto de mentores y ejemplos a seguir hispanos, 'Senderos a la Ciencia'. A través de este proyecto, Hispanic Access creará conciencia en las familias latinas sobre la importancia de las carreras en investigación en salud y despertará el interés entre los jóvenes para buscar una carrera en esa área.
Dr. Ana M. Alvarez
Ana serves as a Deputy General Manager of the East Bay Regional Park District, the largest regional park system in the United States. She represents the Park District with the state and federal agencies on policy and legislative matters on accelerating the pace, scale, and impact of climate-smart conservation.
California Natural Resources Secretary Wade Crowfoot appointed Dr. Alvarez to the California 30x30 Partnership Planning Committee representing the California Biodiversity Network who serves as a critical partner in the implementation of an audacious environmental agenda. She was appointed to the California Biodiversity Network (CBN) Steering Committee to contribute to the development of the California 30x30 Pathways Appendix D – Conserving California: Advancing Science in Support of 30x30, that identified research priorities including centering equity in the advancement of science. She is a leading Planning Committee member of the Indigenous Co-Stewardship of Public Lands: Lessons for the Future Workshop.
Ana also contributes to the national conversation on the role of public lands today in addressing complex challenges such as managing of natural resources in a changing climate and our relationship with the natural world, as it pertains to a new model of conservation. Concurrently, she serves on the Board of Directors for Hispanic Access Foundation.
She holds a doctoral degree in policy, planning and development from the University of Southern California (USC) and a master's degree in public administration from the California State University, Northridge, with honors and distinction. Her doctoral dissertation focused on establishing climate change resiliency strategies for San Francisco’s Parks, for which Mayor Ed Lee bestowed upon her San Francisco’s Green Pioneer Award.

Veronica Delgado: Rising Above Adversity to Empower Latino Voices in Government
Resilience, commitment, and the power of personal experience are some of the adjectives that describe Verónica Delgado’s journey into advocacy work. Born and raised in Nicaragua, Veronica moved to the United States in her childhood alongside her mother facing significant challenges upon arrival. Language barriers and an unfair system that provided very little support for a single mother were a few hurdles they encountered. Veronica's passion for advocacy stems from her own lived experiences and witnessing the struggles of her community, especially in Maryland where she grew up. She realized the need for representation from individuals who have lived through challenges, emphasizing the importance of strategic advocacy.

Hispanic Access Launches ‘Senderos a la Ciencia/Pathways to Science’ Hispanic Role Model and Mentoring Project
Hispanic Access Foundation is honored to partner with the National Institute of Health through the Science Education Partnership Award (SEPA) to launch the Senderos a la Ciencia/Pathways to Science Hispanic Role Model and Mentoring Project. Through the project, Hispanic Access will build awareness and value to Latino families about the importance of careers in health research and spark interest among youth to pursue a health research career.
